



Arcadia currently teaches construction and energy efficiency at City College of San Francisco. She is the Lead Instructor and Coordinator for a program called CityBuild Academy (CBA). CityBuild is a pre-apprentice program for individuals interested in joining the construction trades. It is a full semester program that encompasses “hands-on” training with classroom instruction. Students leave CBA with a certification in:
- OSHA 10
- Forklift and Aerial Lift
- CPR/First Aid
- Flagging and Traffic Control
- Scaffold User
- HAZWOPER
They are also given a thorough and comprehensive instruction in Labor Studies, Construction Math, Blueprint Reading, Energy Efficiency/Building Science, Welding, and Physical Education; in addition to training in the various trades such as carpentry, concrete, drywall, laborer, electrical, plumbing, and roofing.

Arcadia is also the Lead Instructor for the National Sustainable Building Advisor Program in San Francisco. This program is a nine-month certification course focused on practical forward-thinking ways to design, develop, and construct high-performance buildings that are resource efficient, environmentally responsible, cost effective, and healthy for all occupants.
The course objectives for SBA:
- Identify and articulate key high performance building practices.
- Apply LEED™, Green Point Rated™, the Living Building Challenge™ and other established sustainable building standards.
- Work with planners, architects, designers, builders, and building operators to improve a building’s performance.
- Analyze the costs and benefits of incorporating high performance building measures.
- Reduce the long-term costs and liability for owners, operators, and tennants.
- Develop a long-lasting professional community
- Enhance your career with this comprehensive and in-depth training program.
Certification: participants who receive passing scores on their written papers and project presentation are eligible to take the National Sustainable Building Advisory certification examination. A passing score entitles graduates to use the designation CSBA (Certified Sustainable Building Advisor) after their names on business cards, resumes, and other appropriate professional documents.
U.S. Green Building Council – The National Sustainable Building Advisor Program is a 400 Level Mastery Education provider with the USGBC
American Institute of Architecture (AIA) – Earn 100 Learning Units. The San Francisco AIA endorses the Bay Area Sustainable Building Advisor Program and tuition discounts are available for SF AIA members.
